Part frothy pop and part guitar - assaulting rock, the Pink Spiders are like Weezer and Guns N' Roses rolled into one. Though they hail from Nashville, the band's third, most high - profile album was recorded at New York City's famed Electric Lady studios with Cars frontman - turned - taste - making producer Ric Ocasek (No Doubt, Le Tigre, Guided by Voices) at the helm. On the cocksure metal anthem "Soft Smoke" they sing, "With your back to the wall, you're gonna be the lonely one / If you dance all night, you're gonna be loved." Things only get better from there on one of the best rock albums (so far) of 2006.
