The trio which initailly formed My Squared Circle had been jamming since their secondary school days in a band called Threshold.
Lutfi was on vocals, Arash on bass, Akram on guitars, Shain on guitars and Endra on the drums. They played mostly covers from mostly alternative rock acts but during the end of their O'level year they decided it was in their best interest to dissolve the band.
The current incarnation of MSC was formed in early 1999 when Arash, Lutfi and Shain got together just to jam for fun. However, on one of the jamming sessions Endra played guitars and somehow the band felt complete. So the guys invited Endra to play guitars for them. Having a proper line up, the guys began to write more original material. In mid 2000, the guys took in a keyboard player Hanna but after a couple of months, it appeared that it would not work out as Hanna had a lot of other commitments. Still the guys soldiered on but were later hampered by the call of the nation. Shain was the first of the four to be enlisted, followed shortly by Arash.
During this period of time, the band went on a brief hiatus. It was during this time that Arash decided he could not cope with both national service and playing in a band so he told guys of his decision to leave the band. The guys were then in need of a new drummer. Early 2001 the band invited Helmi, who was an an ex schoolmate and also a close friend to play drums.
This gives us the current lineup of MSC. MSC was involved in many gigs and has a song contribution to the 3 Letter Sessions compilation.
