Some people are born deejays... French DJ David Duriez is one such person. ![]()
S o innate is his chart-busting sense of the House Music vibe, his ability to communicate with the listener occurs at the cellular level. But more than just someone who delightfully blends records to get your ass twitching, he's also a producer, remixer, label manager, graphic designer, and the Founder of "Les Maçons de La Musique". Active on the house music scene since the early nineties, such is his fame that you can't talk about the House scene in France without referring to him at least twice, if you're lucky. An exhaustive artist, his string of hits and deejay co-stars reads like a who's who of the European scene, but throughout his illustrious career he has successfully avoided pigeonholing by embracing all styles of House music with the funked up groove that gets models and regular punters alike moving it on the dancefloor... and after all, that's what the scene's about. When not on tour deejaying the global hotspots, he's usually to be found in his studio, creating tech-influenced underground house music with lots of percussion. His studio creations earn him deserved recognition as a producer's producer, influencing the direction of the world music scene with other like-minded sound trend-setters who call the top of the dancecharts home.
If record labels were badges, his coat would be laden down by the weight of such prestigious labels as 2020Vision, Gourmet Recordings, Ovum, Jinxx, Stickman, Under The Counter, Robsoul Recordings, NRK, Afterhours, Tronicsole, Pokerflat, and remixes (End Recordings, Serial, F com, Defected etc) and mix cd's (Club house / Bmg - Rocks Da House / Ucmg - Doitas Brique Rouge / Magix,). Certainly an impressive pedigree, and now he's taking it to a new level with his own label's series known as Brique Rouge. If all this is making your ears hungry, you can download some of his work freely and legally at www.audiofamilies.com. If you're not familiar with how the whole internet download thing works, and are eager to see him spin his deep, slamming, banging, techno influenced house music live, then we'll be seeing you at DXO. |
