THE STROKES Is This It

Hailed as the next great Indie pop band from the US, (not to be confused with alternative mind you), Da Strokes will be in Praha early in March to look for new converts. Using some of the melodic devices familiar to Velvet U fans - but also owing some well earned wings from the Buzzcocks and the Bunnymen, its easy to see how they charmed the always reverent in the right places: UK music press. This is it; in that it accomplishes to rock out, give off that concrete romantic New York feeling, and doesn't cave into its own hype. OK, he does sound like Lou Reed...and so polished!
